Today, pigeons continue to live in the cities they helped build, but face dangers from string litter and human hair, which tangles around their feet and toes and cuts off circulation. This cuts off circulation and can lead to exquisite pain, deformity, gangrene, loss of limbs, and even death.
NAPR catches these pigeons, removes the string, treats any residual foot injuries, and releases them back to their flock.
